Coconut Oil for your skin

Any one who has been reading my posts knows I have gone crazy for natural at home beauty treatments. I have gone "No Poo" on my hair, it's been a month and I love it!! Before you get all grossed and weirded out, read my "No Poo Diary". YES I WASH MY HAIR, just not with store bought chemicals . . I mean shampoo. But I have also incorporated coconut oil into not only my hair treatment but now into my skin care regimen.

I have done lots of reading, but couldn't find what I was looking for. I wanted to know about using STRAIGHT coconut oil on my skin. So after a hot afternoon of mowing the lawn, I took my shower with my usual shower gel (YES I Am still using commercial bath gel until I do more research), then after my shower I patted myself dry and used liquified coconut oil ( we live in Florida and our closets are quite warm, so the oil goes liquid instead of solid) by dipping 3 fingers in the oil, rubbing it between my hands and then massaging it in my skin. I started at my feet (tops only), and worked my way up. My elbows have been SO dry so I made sure I got them really good.

It's been about an hour. My skin feels incredible, no yucky dry marks when I scratch my nails across my skin, no greasy residue, and my elbows have NO SIGNS they were ever dry.

I am going to be doing some experimenting with the coconut oil and essential oils for fragrance. I bought my coconut oil at my local grocery store. It wasn't expensive, about $6 for a large container, but coconut oil doesn't have any smell really, and me being the girlie girl I am, I love to smell pretty so I am going to work with maybe sweet orange oil, jasmine, ylang ylang, lavender, not sure just yet, but I will keep you posted.
